Eligibility

Can you donate?

Most healthy adults can donate blood. Check the basic requirements below.

Basic requirements

  • Age 16–65 years old
  • Weight at least 50 kg
  • Generally good health
  • No recent tattoos or piercings (6 months)
  • No recent travel to certain countries
  • Not currently pregnant
  • No recent illness or infection
  • Not on certain medications

Recent Procedures

Recent surgeries, dental work, or medical procedures may require a waiting period before donation.

Travel History

Recent travel to certain countries may require deferral periods due to disease risk.

The Process

What to expect

Understanding what happens during your donation helps you feel prepared and comfortable.

Every unit is carefully collected, screened, and prepared for the patients who need it.

    Registration & Health Check

    10–15 minutes

    Complete registration, provide ID, and undergo a basic health screening including blood pressure, temperature, and iron levels.

    Medical History Review

    5–10 minutes

    Answer confidential questions about your health history, travel, and lifestyle to ensure donation safety.

  3. 3

    Blood Donation

    8–12 minutes

    The actual collection process, where approximately one pint of blood is collected safely and comfortably.

  4. 4

    Recovery & Refreshments

    10–15 minutes

    Rest and enjoy refreshments to help your body recover, and monitor for any adverse reactions before leaving.

Total time: Approximately 45–60 minutes

The entire process from check-in to check-out typically takes about an hour. The actual blood collection only takes 8–12 minutes.
